Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cam (Cameron, Cambucha, Comanche) came to us back in March as a 6 month old puppy from our rescue partner in Alabama. Cam quickly stole the hearts of all of us in his foster home and after a potential adoption appointment fell through and they never showed up we took it as a sign that he was going to stay forever. Unfortunately our resident dog Spud has other plans for Cam. Spud and Cam have been best friends since March and the real reason we considered keeping Cam was because of how great of friends they were and how much they looked and acted alike. About 2 months ago, Spud decided that he was no longer a fan of Cam and began to get aggressive with him. We have since been keeping them separate when no one is home and then only specific people could have them out together under a watchful eye. We also had Spud fully examined and tested to see why this sudden aggression has occurred and there were no medical reasons for it.
We are having to make the tough decision to find Cam his forever home and unfortunately his perfect home is not ours. That being said we are looking for a forever home/ foster home/ foster to adopt home for Cam.
Cam just turned 1 year old and he is a one of a kind dog. He definitely has a goofy personality and lots of puppy energy so he does need to go to an active home. Cam’s perfect home has another young dog for him to play with, ideally a female dog or a male dog that is not dominant at all, daily walks to keep him exercised, and a fenced in back yard would be perfect. Cam can be excited/nervous when meeting other dogs at first and it takes him about 10 minutes to understand that he doesn’t have to be afraid of them and run away with his tail between his legs. Cam was found on the side of a road in a ditch in Alabama and he had some scars so we do not know what has happened to him before so we have been working on introductions and for him to be more confident. It has been going well and we have fostered other dogs with Cam and he has been a delight.
Cam loves people and is a total cuddler. Cam loves to sleep in bed with you or on a dog bed on the floor. He also loves to spend his days playing with toys and sleeping on the couch.
Cam is super smart and knows sit, stay, knows how to use the doggie door to go outside, and is house trained. Cam can be crated but he does not love it and would prefer to be out in the open or gated in an area where he can’t chew anything. He loves all chew toys so the more the better.
Cam has met cats in Alabama and did well but we can re-cat test him if needed.
Whoever does adopt Cam is going to be a very lucky family. He is such a great dog and it does break our hearts that we are not the best home for him and he deserves to not have to split time with another dog because of something that he didn’t cause.
