Here's what the humans have to say about me:
(*Please note although Atlas is located in Bakersfield we are able to drive him to his new home and do a homecheck if you are in Kern County, Tulare County, Fresno County, parts of Ventura County or the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles County as well as going to Paso Robles. Otherwise potential adopters would need to come to Bakersfield and have a zoom call prior to adoption.*)
Meet Atlas!
If you are looking for the perfect combination of cuddly, kissy, playful and sassy then Atlas is your boy! This 3 month old angel is a mix of Schnauzer, Poodle and Yorkie. He has a beautiful golden coat with white and silvery black accents and he is non-shedding. He currently weighs about 6 pounds and is expected to be between 15-18 pounds full grown.
Atlas and his brother Monty, who is also for adoption, came from a nice home. The family has both the mother and the father. The Mom is a pure white Schnauzer mixed with Poodle and Dad is a Schnauzer with Yorkie. The daughters in the family wanted to breed the two dogs and raise the puppies and train them but after 3 months of having to take care of them they decided that 8th and 9th grade made it hard to have puppies. So the girls' parents let them breed the dogs. Now the Schnauzer Mom is scheduled to be spayed so that won't happen again.
Atlas and his brother Monty look almost identical. Atlas is slightly bigger than Monty, They are in a private foster home with 3 German Shepherds, 3 small dogs, several cats and a rescue puppy named Jake who is the best friend to both of them. They all play and play and love to do zoomies around the yard. Atlas has a great personality and is very expressive.
Both he and his brother are housebroken which they caught onto quickly. He loves to play with toys, is very good with cats and is generally very good in the house.
It is preferred that he and his brother are adopted together HOWEVER it is not a deal breaker. They really like each other but are also friendly with all the dogs that they meet.
The adoption fee includes:
1. First set of vaccines
2. Two dewormings
3. Microchip
4. Neuter when he is 6 months old per the terms of our contract.
5. Professional grooming
6. Starter food and colostrum
7.. Harness and leash
An adoption fee does apply.
As we prescreen via email ONLY (we do NOT make or receive phone calls in the pre-screening phase) please tell us a bit about you such as:
1. Your lifestyle, activity level and work schedule.
2. Area you live in and if it is a house or apartment. (Please indicate city)
3. How many adults, children and pets in the household.
4. Where your pet stays when you are out or at work.
5. Where your pet will sleep.
6. Dog breed experience
7. Have you ever had to give up a pet
8. If you do not currently have a pet how you will keep Atlas socialized with other dogs
Some notes to consider before applying for Atlas
1.. Atlas is approximately a 3 1/2 month old puppy Please make sure that everyone is on board and ready for the responsibility of a young dog.
2. Please make sure you are ready to adopt before coming to see our adoptable dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have the space to hold dogs for a couple of weeks while you vacation or make your way to California to come and adopt. We will adopt out of state but ONLY if the potential adopter comes here to adopt in person and that is after a screening by Skype/Zoom. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS EVER.
3. We are often inundated with emails about our adoptable dogs and try as we might to make everyone happy it is nearly impossible with only one dog and sometimes up to 50 potential families. The more information you provide in your email to us the quicker we will get back to you. If you have written to us before about a particular dog and did not receive a response please do try again. We try to answer every email but it is not always possible. Every dog has different home requirements that we search for so sometimes you are the right fit for the dog we are trying to place.
4. PLEASE do NOT send more than one email. It slows down the process.
5. We do not make appointments for people to just come "see" the dogs available. They are in private foster homes and we go through a pre-screening process before any appointments are made.
Thank you for choosing to adopt!
