My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ada is a very down to earth dog. She enjoys going for walks and to get belly rubs, as well as booty scratches.  She LOVES to play with other dogs and toys. She can be very shy at first with people, but warms up quickly. She will most likely do best in a home with other dogs, but we are not sure.  I would consider her partially housetrained because if she has an outside area to potty in, she does not go in her room, but she does potty in that designated area overnight. Ada is 2 years old now and weighs about 45lbs. She has a black patch over one eye and beautiful touches of brown throughout her coat. She really is a beautiful gal!

If you have any questions or would like to come meet Ada, please go to our website www.schspets.org and complete an adoption application. We will contact you after that! You can also call the shelter at 870-269-5200 with questions.

More about this shelter

The Stone County Humane Society is a 501(C)(3) private organization, not a government entity that was formed in 1999. We rescue dogs and cats and are a no-kill shelter but we are not an open take in facility. We are currently operating from our new shelter building recently completed in August 2016 and a cat cottage. Our organization is managed by a volunteer board of 10 individuals and a full-time paid employee shelter manager that handles the day to day operations, and three part-time paid employees that feed and care for the animals and keep the facility clean. Most of our daily operations are funded by proceeds from a Second Chance Shop in town and donations from individuals. We also provide low cost spay/neuter clinics to the people of our county with help from a local vet.
