My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COURTESY POST.

MEET MAX!

This big, gentle giant was abandoned by his owner, and his present guardian needs to find him a new, loving, caring, committed home! One that will NEVER give up on him.

MAX is such a SWEET older guy ... as shown in his pics, he loves humans, kids especially. Is totally patient and tolerant with them. Very mellow in the home, sort of sleeps all day! Loves his leashed walks. Ok with other dogs (indifferent to adult dogs, intros always needed), but he does LOVE puppies!

His present guardian says about him:

"He loves puppies and he LOVES kids! He is so gentle with kids and will let them do anything!!
He is a big lovable baby and mostly sleeps and just wants to be around people. Needs a few good walks a day to give the old bones a stretch and a little bit of play time. He loves to sniff babies and is very gently even tho he’s a big oaf. Very well behaved ...
Ideal home? A yard would be great since Max loves to quietly sit outside. He could also be great companion for a retiree. Would do great with a family ... "

What a great dog!
MAX is about 9 yrs young. He is utd and neutered. in good health!

More about this rescue

Rebound Hounds Res-Q believes that there’s a great home for every dog. How to make that happen is the real work of rescue. We’re committed to bringing dogs and guardians together who are right for each other. We do it by knowing the dog, and knowing the prospective guardian.

First, we know the dogs we place. We seek out temperament evaluations from ACC staff and ACC volunteers in the attempt to pair dogs with the right home. It’s not perfect, but it goes a long way toward getting a feel for who the dog should go to.

Next, we learn about the adopters. We look at lifestyle, energy level, experience, tolerances. It’s communicating about expectations and commitment, not just for the next few weeks when the dog comes into their life, but for life.

Last, we stay in touch. After the initial home visit, we’re available to offer help, support and advice. We welcome knowing how everyone is settling in. Pictures are great, an occasional email. Our job is to support the owner and dog throughout the process.

Shelter dogs are a unique challenge because they have pasts we often can’t know. What we do know is that once matched with the right guardian — with time, respect and patience — a shelter dog offers unparalleled love and gratitude every day, in every way, to the person who saved them. It is unlike any other relationship on earth.
