Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Samantha (aka Sammi) is a beautiful 1 year old classic rough coat BC with the typical
traits of the breed - lively, bright, sensitive - and the same old story, too. Surrendered to a North Colorado shelter by a family who bought her and found her "too active", this sensitive girl was terrified and overwhelmed at the shelter. Fortunately, WBCR was contacted, and Sammi is now safe, sound, and understood in rescue.
Since arriving in foster care, Sammi has shown she is a very loving and sweet little girl! She would hang upside down to get a little attention, and especially loves being petted and ear scritches. She is a little timid when she first meets new people but warms up quickly. Although she was pretty fearful of new dogs when she arrived, she is coming along nicely in learning how to greet new dogs, although if it was up to her, she'd have all the human attention to herself! She's not a particularly herdy girl, although she is somewhat reactive to movement (like cars) - her foster mom is working with her on that.
Sammi sure does love any kind of toy you will give her - and loves it more if you will throw it!! This playful girl is pretty energetic - she's still just a pup and has moments of very high energy when she will fetch for an hour before showing any signs of fatigue – but does have a good off switch once you get it all out of her. With her energy, athleticism, and brains, Sammi would make a great dog sport candidate, especially for flyball or discdog.
Did we say brains? Yep - she's gorgeous AND smart! Sammi is intelligent, people-oriented, responsive, and eager to learn, and therefore a real delight to train. She's houstrained, cratetrained, and familiar with the basics. She still needs some more manners training, but is well on her way - she's young, bright, and the sky's the limit to what she can learn! Obedience training will also build her confidence, and Sammi will need continued socializing as well as consistency and routine to help her feel comfortable and at ease in the world, as she's still a little unsure of herself. Sammi will also need someone who will set boundaries for her - once this smarty pants is comfortable, she will definitely test her limits!!
All in all, Sammi is a lovely BC whose world has clearly been upended through no fault of her own. She took this hard, and will be one happy girl to find a forever home who she can trust to love her and give her the stability she needs. Sammi is oozing with devotion and love and deserves to be someone’s little princess! With stabilty and guidance, lots of exercise for her mind and body, and a daily showering of lovin', Sammi is sure to make a BC lover the perfect companion.
Sammi is fully vetted and living in a loving foster home near Denver, CO.
