"Quiet and reserved" was Lilly's description at the shelter where she sat for 7 months, growing from a 5 month old pup to a young adult. Not bouncing or barking or otherwise calling attention to herself, Lilly just sat and watched as people passed her by... and passed her by.
We can tell you now that was just Lilly's shelter persona. Out of the shelter and safe in a foster home, she has transformed into the rambunctious, lovable puppy she was meant to be, in perpetual wrestle mode with anyone who will play and nosing into into everything. Lilly will likely be puppyish for the next 12-18 months (a heads up to hide your shoes and slippers). She is very playful and loves other dogs. At the shelter she enjoyed playing with chihuahuas. In her foster home she gets along well with several dogs of various sizes. She became instant friends with Rocky, another youngster who was rescued at the same time and also bonded quickly to her rescuer.
Although she is very active, Lilly is very smart, polite and trainable. She knows "sit" and will soon master "stay" and "leave it." She caught on quickly to the concept of house training. She is respectful of the cats in her foster home and ignores the chinchillas.
Soon after rescuing her, Lilly's foster family took her with them on a day trip to Santa Cruz. She
walked well on leash and interacted nicely with strangers, dogs she didn't know, bicycles, &
skateboards. If an older or less sociable dog gave her the "what-for" she just headed the other
direction. She was also fine alone in the car for brief periods.
Lilly is ready to form a loving bond with a permanent family. For more information or to meet Lilly email Rick at rickhollander@comcast.net
