Meet Miss Elphie! She is a 9- week old puppy with personality to spare. Despite a rough beginning, she is incredibly friendly and loving, and of course has puppy energy and cuteness on her side.
She was originally taken from her mother at about 3-4 weeks by a family that thought she would be a good pet for 4 small children. They bottle fed her for a few weeks, but she was not getting the attention she needed, and the family was being evicted, so they contacted her foster for help (thank goodness)!
Elphie is currently in a foster home with two older dogs - a border collie-lab mix and a Staffordshire bull terrier, as well as two cats. So far Elphie has been doing great with the dogs, they're teaching her where she fits in the pack, and the older dog has another dog to herd! The cats have been keeping a low profile so far, although Elphie has discovered cat food, which is now out of reach.
Elphie is already doing well with her potty training, and is learning to ask to go outside. She has learned to sit, and we are working on crate training and puppy manners (a work in progress!) She loves toys of all kinds, and pulling anything.
Elphie would love a home with another dog, even another sturdy breed! The vet said she will probably get to be about 60 lbs. She has the paws to prove it!
