Here's what the humans have to say about me:
THANK YOU for finding us and interest in our rescued dog. Because we are an international rescue through Taiwan. The dogs are likely still in Taiwan and you will have to meet your dog(s) and pick your dog(s) up from the airport.

------------------------------------
Umi was found abandoned at a local park. She was about 4 months old at the time. When she was found, the rescuers saw her ears were clipped by someone who really had no idea what they were doing, and also saw signs of abuse. She had a small portion of one of her paws shaved off, and her tail was docked but again, not done professionally. The rescuers did not know what kind of pain Umi experienced. They could not find any microchips and no one came forward to claim her. Umi, despite the hardship she experienced, was super friendly when greeted by the rescuers. She showed no signs of emotional traumas. After a check-up, Umi was found to be very healthy and her wounds were surface only. She healed very quickly with no side effects. Like any Doberman, she grows fast and is at a healthy weight.
Umi currently lives with a foster family with another dog. She loves loves loves people - regardless adults or children. She gets very excited when approaching people. Family with young children needs to be aware that Umi might accidentally tackle them due to excitement. Umi uses her barking to get your attention if you ignore her. Again, like Dobermans, they are Velcro dogs and loves to be with people. Umi also likes playing with other dogs. She gets along very well with her foster family's dog. She usually runs toward to other dogs trying to get their attention. She doesn't quite understand boundaries and personal space because she is very sociable.
Umi showed some curiosity with cats. If the cats ignore her, she would bark a few times to get their attention. If the cats hit her with their paws, it would get Umi to be more excited thinking the cats want to play with her.
Umi is fearless, confident and loves being petted. She loves playing outside and needs to be let out to go do her business first thing in the morning. She is not completely house trained. As long as she has access to outside or if you take her regularly to use the bathroom, she will not have accidents. Routine will help her house trained very easily. Don't forget, she's still a puppy. Umi stays in a play pen during quiet time or when her foster family goes out. She usually only barks to get attention and does not bark for a long time. As a puppy, she will need regular exercise to drain her energy. She doesn't destroy household items if she gets enough exercise. So far, she only destroys her pee pads and other stuff toys (which most of them are not tough enough for Dobermans).
In terms of food, she is very food motivated and would eat everything given to her. So far, she shows no signs of resource guarding or food guarding. However, as mentioned earlier, she doesn't quite understand boundaries with other dogs, if your dog(s) shows any resource guarding behaviors, you will need to closely supervise their interactions for a while.
If you are someone or a family who like to be active, enjoy the company of a loving large breed dog, Umi is your perfect choice. Please contact Life of Hope to find out more about Umi and fill out the application form. Umi has gone through unimaginable things during the first few months of her life, she deserves a loving forever home.
