Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi Wendy,
Thank you so very much for your willingness to help me and Charlie. I don't know where else to turn. I would really appreciate you passing this along to anyone you think might be interested. Let me know if you'd like to meet Charlie - I know you have your hands full with your other dogs, but I have a feeling you'd probably fall in love with him! He's so sweet and loving and mellow in his home environment - it's outside on the busy neighborhood streets with cars and dogs and people passing by where he turns into an anxiety-ridden, aggressive dog. I continue to work with him each day in an effort to desensitize him to our environment, but I really think he just needs to be somewhere that allows him to simply be a dog. Anway, thanks again for your care and concern.
Warmly,
Betsy
Hello,
I am desperate to re-home my dog Charlie, a 5 year old 90 pound neutered Tosa Inu mixed breed. I adopted Charlie from a local humane society 4 years ago and have struggled tremendously with trying to manage his temperment ever since. I live in a condo in a coastal community and wanted a dog that I could walk to the local market, take to the beach and socialize with other dogs in the neighborhood. Although he is an angel at home and does pretty well at doggie daycare, I quickly learned that Charlie is not a highly social dog. He is leash agressive on our walks and only enjoys limited playtime with the other dogs when he's at daycare. I have tried everything imaginable to socialize him, but it seems he would simply be better suited to live somewhere more remote where he does not encounter lots of strangers/dogs during his daily routine. He is incredibly affectionate, obedient and loves to cuddle. It breaks my heart to think about giving Charlie to a new owner, but it's very clear that this environment is very stressful for him. We've both done the best we can throughout the past 4 years, but it's time to look for other options. Neither of us can continue living this way.
I have spent lots of time thinking about what kind of home would be best for Charlie and I think he would do really well with a strong owner who isn't interested in having a highly social dog, but instead wants a loyal companion who makes him/her feel safe and loved. I think he might be okay with other dogs in the home, as long as they are introduced properly. Anyway, I'm glad to answer any/all questions about Charlie if someone is interested in providing him with a loving home. He's a very special dog and deserves a very special owner.
Thank you,
Betsy
