Meet Mabel!

Mabel is a Blue Merle Cocker Spaniel. She is 4 months old and was rescued from a puppy mill. She is very sweet and loves people, dogs and cats! She’s only been in rescue a few weeks and is doing good working on her potty training and is crate-trained.

Mabel is a very sensitive soul and while she does love people, because of the environment she was in she had a lack of any human socialization or exposure to any sounds in a normal environment. Outside noises are very frightening to her. With time, patience and exposure she will overcome this fear, but for now unfamiliar sounds like heavy winds, garbage cans, cars, etc. put her in fear and flight mode. While all dogs should be on a properly fitted harness and martingale collar when they are outside, Mabel will require these for her safety whenever she is outside of her home or being supervised in a secure fenced yard.

When you get to know Mabel you will see that she is a typical fun-loving puppy that just needs some time to acclimate to a home environment. In return for your patience in the beginning. She does love her toys and is very playful. Mabel is very food motivated and smart and listens very well once she feels safe, secure and comfortable. Mabel sleeps through the night and is very quiet … and if you haven’t seen it.. Her tongue alone will make you fall in love!

The perfect home for Mabel will have another dog as she will need that companionship to help her feel comfortable and to show her how fun it is to be a dog, outside of the bars of a puppy mill cage.
