My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** If you are interested in Nugget, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ***

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness! Nugget is believed to be a Labrador/Boxer mix. These super-smart, very loving, and loyal young dogs are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter with euthanasia pending due to lack of space or on the terrifying streets alone and hungry.

Nugget, at just 3 months old and currently around 17 lbs (anticipated to be about 50 lbs when full grown), was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this very sweet guy with a great temperament..they rescued Nugget and his litter mates just in the nick of time to spare their lives.

Nugget is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's also so loving and cuddly. He would be very excited to snuggle with his favorite people at the end of an active day. He's also SO smart and very engaging - very typical of a Lab and Boxer breeds. Many would say these breeds are among the most loyal and engaging in the dog world.

Since Nugget is just a young pup, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. Nugget will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement puppy kindergarten classes.

We feel very strongly that every dog and their family deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement training classes. We therefore aren't willing to adopt to a home that doesn't choose to offer this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual or in-person positive reinforcement/force-free trainers in your area.

Nugget will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. He will still be in need of 1 more puppy shot before it is safe for him to go out on public ground.

Ongoing research is clear that it's beneficial to a dog's skeleton to be neutered at a later age. This way the dog continues to receive the hormones for a much longer period of time that will serve them as they age.
Neuter is required to finalize any adoption, and must be done by the time the pup is 1 year old.

Nugget is looking for his forever home now! He will be arriving to Farfel's Farm & Rescue in Boulder in August. (Will update when we have an exact transport date).

Applications are currently being accepted for this beautiful, very sweet and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.
