My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

** If you are interested in Archie, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ **

Archie is a 7-year-old Schnauzer / Labradoodle mix, and the handsomest dog in the neighborhood by far. He’s about 40 lbs, and he's got a wiry beard and bushy eyebrows that make you imagine him smoking a cigar and reading Kafka in a leather armchair.

(You can see more photos of Archie on our Facebook page! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.8636629769696618&type=3 )

From Archie's foster mom:

"Archie is a SUPER sweet boy!
He is tremendous fun, loves playing ball, swimming, hiking, and taking walks.
He is the best adventure companion!
He is polite meeting other dogs. Sometimes meeting new people he can be barky, but when met with calmness, he will become a faithful friend in minutes. (He is also very treat motivated!).
He flourishes with attention and exercise."

Archie was adopted from Farfel’s Farm & Rescue when he was just a puppy, at 6 month old… (in 2015!!)
Unfortunately or Archie, his family of 7 years had a baby and no longer had the time for him and he was brought back to Farfel's Farm and Rescue.

Archie does GREAT in outdoor settings and activities! It’s his passion. He’s an outdoors man! These activities include taking walks, hiking, camping, swimming, playing fetch, playing with toys in the house, watching movies and video games, curling up in sunny spots for a nap, going on long car trips across the country to explore new places, eating EVERYTHING he can get his little paws on (his personal favorite is ice-cream on his birthday). He LOVES water and swimming.

More about Archie’s personality:

-He is VERY food motivated! He needs slow introductions with strangers, but if they have food then he will be their bff.

-Loves everything soft. Loves to snuggle up on the couch, a chair or his parent’s bed (all of which they allowed).

-Does not test physical barriers like doggy gates.

-Loves ear and chin scratches and playing with toys that make crinkly and squeaky sounds.

-Does well with other dogs, but can sometimes bark at them on walks. Not usually, but if walking past a super high energy dog he does.

-Meeting Archie will go amazing for you if you bring him something good, like deli meat or chicken. He will be your friend right away!

-Archie LOVES walks and does great on them.

-Archie does not like a crate, because he has never used one. He CAN be trusted left alone in your home and he will just sleep when he is home alone. He is never destructive.

-He is fully potty trained and will hold it until you take him out.

Farfel's Rescue believes that all adopted dogs should go through training with their new person, regardless of prior training they may have. There is a bonding that occurs through the training process that can't be duplicated. It also teaches behaviors that enable a dog to go out into the world with excellent manners that create a very respectful relationship between dogs and their humans. It is for all these reasons that Farfel's isn't willing to adopt to a family that doesn't choose to create this training relationship for Archie. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/ force-free trainers in your area.

Applications are currently being accepted for our handsome Archie. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving puppy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
