My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you're searching for a devoted and loving best friend, Burt is the pup you want to have around!
This head-turning gorgeous guy is a 1-year old, neutered, fully vetted, house trained, and crate trained. Burt is an 80lb. Blue Heeler / Great Pyrenees mix (as per his DNA test) with all the traits that make these super-smart and personality-plus dogs very popular breed mixes for families and individuals searching for loving and loyal best friends. Burts fosters actually did a doggy dna test on him. His DNA test showed: 49% Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler), 37% Great Pyrenees, 6% Anatolian Shepherd, & 4% Maremma Sheepdog.

Burt has been with Farfel's Rescue for over a year, and is our longest resident ever. Burt has never had a loving and responsible family to call his own...his biggest joy will be to be at the center of a dog-crazy family who will commit to loving and caring for this wonderful guy for life. He does well with people and older kids aged 14 plus.

Burt's ideal home *NEEDS* to be in a quiet suburban or rural setting that's away from the hubbub of traffic and public trails. He gets too overstimulated in a busy neighborhood. A house with lots of neighbors will not be a good fit for Burt, unfortunately. His fosters live up in the mountains and he is thriving in that living situation.

Burt is a board and train graduate, and it shows! The following is a summary of Burt's progress by his trainer:

"Sweet Burt is looking for his next adventure. He has been a joy to be around during his board and train stay. This stunning dog loves hiking, playing with other dogs, and cuddling on the couch with his favorite people after a long and active day.
He is a shadow dog who loves nothing more than being around his people.
He has benefited greatly from support from our board and train team to help him build confidence on walks and in new situations.
Burt needs a dog experienced guardian with a fenced yard who can set him up for success and continue working with him on leash-walking skills and training. Burt walks best on a no-pull harness. He can pull when he sees exciting stimuli on walks.
He is working on redirecting his arousal to check in with his person on leash and focus on them rather than the stimulus.
We're hoping Burt's new family will have an interest in continuing our training regimen...both Burt and they will learn and benefit from their experiences together."

Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at https://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting our sweet Burt, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
