Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Linus came to us from Kern County, off the euthanasia list, aged at about 8 years, where he had ended up as a stray. He had a microchip implanted in 2007 that had never been registered. The microchip led back to The Hunte Corporation out of MO, one of the biggest puppy mill breeding organizations, who ship 2,000 puppies a week all over the country to Petland and associated puppy stores (California Pets in Orange to name one). Our Linus was a puppy mill boy. We gave him a much needed dental (while being neutered), where he had eight teeth removed making him seem like a senior, yet the microchip told us he was about 3 years old - he had a hard life after being purchased for at least $800 - $1200 as a cute little Chihuahua puppy. Now people at the Meet & Greets look at him and say "why are there all these tan Chihuahuas - he can't be purebred he is too big (8-lbs)...." no poorly bred to meet consumer demand" and now at a rescue patiently waiting for his fur-ever home.
Overlooked so often yet a fabulous little guy, patient, loving, friendly, low maintenance, easy going but unwanted now he is no longer a cute 6-week old puppy that looked so tiny. His story speaks for thousands that don't end up safe in a rescue. He mostly likely has AKC papers attached to him as the The Hunte Corporation send AKC papers along with all their puppies who end up in the Petland and other pet stores. http://www.petstorecruelty.org/Hunte%20Corp.htm
