My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NOTE: GSRSV HAS NOT MET MYLO. WE ARE LISTING HIM ON OUR PET LIST FOR THIS WEBSITE TO GIVE HIM MORE ADOPTION EXPOSURE. PLEASE SEE END OF DESCRIPTION FOR CONTACT INFO.

“Milo” is a 60-lb, 10-month old neutered male GSD/Cattle Dog/Husky who is good-natured, energetic and loyal. Milo is healthy and up-to-date on DHPP and rabies vaccinations (expire on March 10, 2023).

Milo is friendly with just about everyone he meets; he even likes the delivery people! Milo is good with children but is presently too rambunctious for kids under 6 yrs. He lives with a 2-yo boy [or is it a girl?] and has knocked him over on several occasions. [Note from GSRSV: it’s not surprising that Milo is so rambunctious with the 2-yr old boy since he’s kept outside all the time. My opinion is that Milo might be fine with kids under 6 yrs of age if he was allowed inside so he wasn’t so wound up when his people go outside.]

Milo is great with other dogs and just wants to play. He’s a little timid of large dogs at first but eventually wants to play with them, too.

Milo is good with cats, too. He lives with two of them and simply wants to play with them—which neither of them will allow.

Milo’s people have kept him outside since they brought him home at two months of age, so they can’t say for certain if he’s housetrained or not. However, Milo does sleep in a crate in the garage at night so at least he’s crate-trained.

Milo has not received any obedience training but he does not roam off the unfenced 3.5 acre property he lives on. A trainer evaluated Milo and said that he’s a good dog who just wants to please his people. At 10 months of age, Milo still has plenty of time to learn the basics.

Milo pulls on leash initially when taken for walks, but within five minutes is walking on a short leash. Milo’s off-leash recall is hit or miss, so he could use some work there.

Milo rides very calmly in a vehicle. He loves to go for hikes, doesn’t care much for toys. He likes to lay in the kiddie pool, so he might enjoy swimming.

Milo’s people purchased him from a private party when he was two months old. Though they love Milo, they are now seeking a new home for him because he’s too rambunctious w/ their 2-yo son and they are expecting another child shortly. Also, his primary person (Dan) doesn’t have enough time to provide Milo w/ the exercise and training that he needs.

Milo is located in Redding, CA. His adoption fee is $150.
