Meet Jambalaya: (Jamba for short) is a loving and adaptable1.5-year-old Boxer/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. He was abandoned at our Vets office and after researching his background and waiting in vain for an owner to claim him, he quickly came out of his shell at this new foster family: He arrived a little scared but has quickly learned to be part of their pack consisting of 3 dogs of various sizes. He has not been observed interacting with cats but based on how he responds to the smaller dog’s reactions he seems to take the hint when she’s not in the mood to play. He is a fast learner and has picked up basic commands such as sit, down, and wait. He has been good with the family’s older children and their friends, but as he can be a little rambunctious in his play he might unintentionally knock down smaller children. Jamba is mostly house trained with a few accidents and has had a few puppy ‘chewing on the wrong thing’ tendencies but takes redirection to appropriate chew toys well. He is crate trained and while he still acts a little nervous on a leash he is getting better with each outing. He is an affectionate and cuddle loving pup.
Jamba is looking for a moderately active home with another dog for him to play with and the learn from that will involve him in daily activities. He still has lots to learn about the great outdoors and following the lead of another dog will make this a lot easier for him. He is great with kids but will need to be watched around open front doors, unattended food and inappropriate toys.
***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***
