My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Betty!

"Walk right in, sit right down": Do you remember that song? Well, I'm Betty, and I'll walk right into your house and make myself comfortable, and instead of sitting right down, I'll find myself a bed to lay in! I'm a beautiful little shih tzu weighing about 13 pounds. I'm just 11 years old and I'm full of personality! I wear a beautiful collar, full of bling, to show the world how special I am. The song also says something about hair hanging down, or something like that, but I get my hair cut into a cute "do" when it starts hanging down. I'm perfectly housetrained, and bed trained, as I'll snuggle right into bed with you at night. The middle of the bed will do. Yes, I snore, but it's more like a purr, just a little vibration. You know, the ladylike way of snoring. I get along with other dogs, but when I take my stuffy to the dog bed with me and another dog wants it, I get a little grumbly. If you remind me I can't be so selfish, I'll mind my manners. I haven't met any cats or kids yet, but my foster mom says she doesn't think I'd have a problem with them unless they tried to take my toy and I didn't want them to. We can always test to be certain, if needed.

I don't mind thunderstorms, or fire works, or any of the loud trucks that go by the house, but that dang bunny rabbit that keeps coming in my yard is quite bothersome. I'll bark at him like a little wind up toy so he gets out of my yard! Most of all I want your company. Taking the garbage to the curb? Take me with you! Going to run errands? I'll come with you to do them. Going to the grocery store? Maybe just order them online, so I can go with you to pick them up! If you are looking for a snuggle buddy, a dog who wants you more than any other thing in the whole wide world, then I'm the one for you! Maybe your home can be my new home!?

Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.
