My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. Puppies are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them at a high-kill shelter at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space.

Abby, now 8 weeks old and 12 lbs ( estimated to be full grown at about 40 - 45 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas and New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this beautiful and sweet as can be puppy. They responded just in time to save Abby's precious life. She's now scheduled for her freedom ride to Colorado and a new and wonderful life.

Abby is starting out with great energy She's a sweet/loving and super-healthy girl with the cutest markings ever! Since Abby's rescue, she's blooming into a happy go lucky girl with fun and silliness on her mind...and then puppy crashing into a deep sleep.

Since Abby is just a baby, she's a blank slate who is very open to a kind and patient human showing her the way. She has all the potential in the world to become an awesome adult companion. Sweet Abby will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement, force- free level 1 Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. Since Farfel's feels very strongly about giving Abby the best possible start in life, we're not willing to adopt out to a home that's unwilling to participate in a force-free training protocol. We're happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force free virtual and in-person trainers in your area.

We're open to Abby finding her forever home with a retired couple or individual with the commitment and energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart puppy. Abby enjoys children as well...we would prefer to place her in a home with older kids that can participate in play and fun as well as training. Children are an integral part of a training regimen that's so important in a puppy's well-adjusted future behavior. Farfel's isn't willing to place Abby with a family that works full-time outside of the home. It's not in her best interest as a puppy in her developmental stages to spend these long hours alone. A family that works from a home-based office would be great for periodic puppy-loving throughout the day.

Abby will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy puppies. New research shows that spaying a puppy at approximately 1 year old is beneficial for their skeleton later in life. Abby is therefore far too young to be spayed at this time. When she's ready, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Abby's spay and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used.

Abby is blossoming and learning about her wonderful new life with her rescuer in New Mexico. She is scheduled for transport to Boulder on Wednesday 8/17/2022. Applications are currently being accepted for this beautiful puppy with the great personality. Apps can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested please fill out completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Abby, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving puppy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
