My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

AmyLou (Lou for short) is a 4 year old, 33# stout cowboy corgi who needs a patient home while she gets to know her surroundings and learns how to dog again. She was found abandoned in her home after her people just moved out and left her. She’s normally very quiet and just head tilts at you inquisitively. But she’ll whine when she wants something and will pace back and forth when she needs to go outside. She’s mostly potty trained but needs supervision in the house if she gets distracted outside. In the event she really wants your attention, she’ll get it with a loud ‘BOOF!’ She loves getting scratchies after coming in from going potty and will even wait at the door until you give her love. She retreats to her kennel as her safe space, and sleeps in it throughout the night. She’s great with cats, other dogs and respectful non-grabby older kids. She’d do best in a quieter home with other dogs who can show her the run of the house and help her come out of her shell. She needs patience, as she is still very unsure of her surroundings and fearful at times. She does not nip or bite. And prefers her owner to be near her as she eats (seriously, if you walk away, she follows. So feedings while you’re making dinner or making breakfast/coffee are encouraged ). She is not a good fit for an apartment and REQUIRES a fenced in yard. She’s very curious of what lays beyond the front door, so the new owner will need to be cautious. She’s considered a flight risk and needs some time to get used to her new home. But the butt wiggles, the smiles, and the happy squirms as she snuggles in next to you on the couch are worth every ounce of patience. She’s such a good girl! If you’re interested in meeting AmyLou and meet the requirements above, you can complete our meet and greet application at https://www.corgisandfriends.com as the first step. AmyLou is spayed, utd on vaccs, chipped, and is getting her HWT next week. Her adoption fee is $400 and we are not doing out of state adoptions.
