My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Meeka!
Brought back to BrightSide after being adopted in 2017, Meeka is looking for her furr-ever home. Overall Meeka is described by her previous owners as loving, hardworking, protective, occasionally high stress and obedient. Here at the shelter Meeka has shown our staff and volunteers that she is very attentive, obedient, and kind. Meeka does require an adopter with patience and understanding as she can be a high-stress dog in small spaces, around loud sounds, or too much foot traffic. Besides being anxious occasionally, Meeka is an incredibly funny pup with her facial expression as well as prances and jumps when excited.
Meeka is a sweet and energetic dog that loves to play and needs to run and can't wait to find the right home for her.
During group with other pups, Meeka does tend to stay to herself but has done okay around other dogs here at the shelter; we require a meet and greet between Meeka and other dogs in the home to ensure that it would be a good and safe placement.
Meeka does not do well with cats and children younger than eight to ten.
If you would like to meet Meeka, come take a walk with her at BrightSide!
Meeka's Special Needs
This dog has a suspected skin tag on her right side. A needle sample was non-exfoliative, which means there were not enough cells to confirm this diagnosis under the microscope. If the new owner wants to know what type of mass is present, a biopsy would be needed for further information. This dog also had worn teeth, likely from chewing on toys for several years. She would benefit from a dental cleaning in the next 1-2 years to further evaluate her teeth.
