My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Achilles, aka Spud! He is a 2-year-old, 64 pound American Pit Bull mix. Spud was found on the streets of Modesto with an untreated fractured leg. Despite his injury, he is able to live a happy life full of zoomies and naps.

This sweet pup is potty trained and knows basic commands like sit, lay down, and stay. Spud is currently working on his leash training and his reactivity to other animals as he is prone to want to run in the opposite direction of them due to fear and anxiety. He requires SLOW introductions with other dogs and has been selective about who he wants to be friends with. As of right now he prefers older and more reserved dogs that respect his boundaries. He has not been tested with cats.

Spud LOVES people and is extremely people oriented. While we do not know much about his life before the rescue, we can see from the injury and scarring that he came to us with that he was mistreated. Because of this, Spud is slow to trust some people (shorter, 50+ year-old men wearing hats) and had an incident where he bit a man who grabbed his ears that were being treated for an infection at the time and got into his face. This is the single time that Spud has ever had an incident like this and it was evident that he felt he needed to defend himself.

Sweet Spud has so much love to give and deserves a home that can give him so much love in return. If you have a yard for him to play in, a bed/couch for him to take countless naps on, and time to cuddle, Spud would make the perfect addition to your life!
