Hi There! My name is Solar, and I am now officially looking for my forever home! I'm a handsome young German Shepherd, who's found himself in need of new digs through absolutely no fault of my own. True to my breed, I'm full of beans, and am active and eager to go! I love to explore, and I'm learning about this thing called the leash, so that I can start accompany my people on hikes! I very much enjoy the water, and though I'm not swimming yet, I'm sure it won't take much to get my feet off the bottom.
I'm on the softer side, but generally warm up very quickly to meeting new people, and I love new adventures! I'm easily bribed with yummy treats, so it won't take long for you and me to become best friends! From what we know about my parents, often adult dog in my family end up with what we call same sex aggression. So I should not go to a home with a male dog that is close in age, particularly if they are a breed also prone to same sex aggression, to help prevent any issues once I mature. Outside of that, I currently get along with everyone, and everything!
My ideal family are people who are quite active, enjoy teaching puppies new things, keeping my brain engaged, and are forgiving & understanding that I am very much still a baby. Lizz would categorize me is a medium to high energy boy, so still a working dog, but not bouncing off the walls constantly, haha! If you like to go hiking, camping, swimming, and adventuring on the weekends, and enjoy a few hours walk every night during the week, then we'll probably be perfect for each other. Don't forget the brain games!
I'm working really hard on picking up new skills, like crate training, house training, and leash training. But this is all still very new to me, and will need to be continued in my new home. As always, it's required that my new family take me to puppy school upon adoption, and continue my training for life! Training never ends, and it's super important that we're both set up for success, as well as realistic expectations. If you put in the work, I promise I will too!
I still have some boosters to complete, so whoever adopts me needs to be willing and able to travel to my Veterinary clinic, which is located in St Catharines. So far I am a very healthy boy, I just have a small umbilical hernia, which would be repaired when I'm neutered. Nothing to worry about at all!
I'm super excited about finding my future forever family, and I'm looking forward to the many adventures we'll share together. If I sound like you're kind of guy, please reach out for an application, and hopefully I'll get to meet you soon!
