Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sydney is a very special puppy...a hard luck kid with a heart of gold and is just as sweet as can be. Due to a rough start in life and not getting proper nutrition, he will be quite small for a Boxer....about 45 lbs. or so; he's about 5 lbs. off that right now and approximately ten months old. He probably is from the BYB trade, where "black" Boxers often are advertised for large prices, in that gross "dogs with hook/puppies for profit" sort of way. It's very sad, for he arrived at a high kill shelter emaciated, ravaged with mange (hairless, swollen, with his skin cracked and bleeding), preciously sweet but lethargic for all his suffering. It's just disgusting a breeder would let this happen and offer such a gross standard of care, cashing in on puppies sold too young to be separated from their littermates, then leaving the rest to die. He was a "dead dog walking," due to only run out his stray hold and then be killed. Thanks to some wonderful people who donated for his care, we were able to pull him, and with a month of treatment, he just came alive :) We got him into foster care quickly, but his trials have continued. Broken toes, and a new vet misapplying a splint that cut into his skin. Just a trail of woes for dear Sydney, but he remains so unaffected....just a big wiggle butt, crazy for people, and so hugely sweet. He is doing extremely well....a pup of "character and gumption," as one of his many fans says. Sydney is now a classic "crazy lil' Boxer boy." Wiggle butt, full of play, very silly, a packet of enthusiasm, loves to be around people and is endlessly entertaining. If you love Boxers, you will LOVE Sydney. He is very playful with other dogs, but may be too much of a wildman for cats - he means no harm, but is just vigorously enthusiastic about everything in life. He'd do best with someone with Boxer experience, is way behind schedule for some basic manners classes and will need an assist with his housebreaking for how confined he's been for many months of his life, but is an absolutely marvelous dog, super innocent, a king of good will, free of any behavioral issues save for guarding his food bowl from other dogs when there is food in it (is fine with people and shares toys well with his dog friends). Due to his mange history, he will need someone dedicated to his care, but is strong, vibrant and ready to head off on his wonderful life with his forever family.
