My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Magnolia
Domestic Short Hair/Black
Female
3 years old
6 lbs.

Hey there, my name is Magnolia. I haven’t had the easiest start to life but that hasn’t kept me from being the sweetest little gal around. And I am so ready to find a forever home of my very own!

I was found in a garage with my newborn babies by a good samaritan and brought to a shelter so we could be safe. I was an amazing mama and now that my babies are all happily in their forever homes, I’m ready to find my forever home of my very own!

Not much is known about my background. Right now, I’m feeling pretty shy in this big new world but I’m making amazing progress in finding my confidence in my foster home! I love to sit in the window and watch the world go by. And I happily receive affection from my foster mom when it’s quiet and I’m feeling brave. I’m nothing but sweet but when I’m nervous, I’ll just go and find a safe place to hide until I feel brave again. Every day, I’m growing more and more comfortable! I will thrive in a home with a patient family willing to take me under their wing and teach me that the world isn’t so scary after all. And an understanding that it will take me a handful of weeks to start to show confidence in a new home.

You should know that I’ve tested positive for FIV, which means that my immune system isn’t as strong as a typical cat. FIV cats usually live long, wonderful lives! And we typically are really healthy cats overall. But to stay healthy, it’s VERY important for an FIV cat to be indoor only and we sometimes are just more susceptible to catching things like cat colds, etc because our immune systems aren’t as strong. We also can live with other animals! FIV is only spread through deep cat bites so as long as another cat is friendly and we have a thoughtful introduction over a week or so, I can absolutely go to a home with another cat (or I can be a solo cat as well!) I also think I’d do just fine with a friendly dog! And FIV is not contagious to canine friends (or humans!)
