Here's what the humans have to say about me:
COMING SOON
Hi, my name is Murphy (but sometimes my foster mommy calls me Fluff Nugget). My first owners turned me over to a place with lots of barking dogs and meowing kitties. I think they call it a shelter. I was covered in nasty ticks. YUK. The nice girls at the shelter asked if ASF could please take me and find me a family that would love me furever. So I've been staying with my foster mom for a little while now and she says it’s time for me to find my furever home.
So let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am about 4 months old (but nobody knows exactly when my birthday is) and I weigh about 18 pounds. I LOVE to play, it’s my favorite thing in the whole wide world to do. I LOVE to play with TOYS. What’s a toy? Well I think a toy is ANYTHING that I can reach and chew on. My foster mom doesn’t always agree with my choice of toys, though. She is always taking things like shoes away from me and giving me other things to play with and chew on.
I LOVE to play with my foster FUR SIBLINGS! I love to run and wrestle with them. And I love to try to herd them and let them try to herd me. (I’m really fast though so they don’t always get a chance to.) And I love to play bitey-face with them. I really, really need a fur brother or sister that will run with me, and wrestle with me, and let me try to herd them, and try to herd me, and to play bitey-face with me.
Foster mom is trying to teach me to go potty outside. I’m working really hard at that, but I still forget sometimes. And it’s hard to hold my potty all night long. I can go longer and longer every day, but my new family will have to be patient with me until I get the hang of this potty thing.
I’m really a pretty good boy, but sometimes I don’t want to listen and do what my foster mommy tells me to do. When I’m acting that way, my foster mom tells me I am being strong-willed and stubborn. I prefer to think of myself as confident. She says my new family will have to give me guidelines and boundaries so that I grow up to be a wonderful member of the family. For example, sometimes I get a little excited and bite at her fingers like I bite on my fur siblings. Foster mom tells me “No Bite”, so I am trying to remember that I can’t bite fingers. Sometimes I get really wound up and do zoomies all over the yard and house. Foster mom lets me run out my energy for a while and will then say it’s time to settle down. (This is when I sometimes do that not-listening thing.)
Foster mom has figured out my greatest weakness though… if you pick me up and rub my belly, I will stop whatever I’m doing and not move a muscle until you stop. Belly rubs are the absolute best, right up there with playing. And did I mention that I LOVE to be petted, and cuddled, and scratched by my humans? That’s right there at the top of my list of favorite things, too.
I have had some of my vaccines and will be UTD when I go to my new home, but I will need the rest of my age appropriate vaccines to keep me healthy. I have been microchipped already, but I will need to be neutered when I am old enough. (I’m not sure what that means, but my foster mom says it has to be done.)
If you think I am the puppy you’ve been waiting for, and you can promise to love me furever, please fill out an application at AustralianShepherdsFurever.org/adoption-application.
There is a $50 refundable neuter deposit that must be paid prior to adoption. All adoption fees are used to help other furbabies like me.
Some notes from Murphy’s foster mom:
Murphy is everything an Aussie puppy should be: playful, smart, inquisitive, and adorable.
He is a VERY confident puppy, he has no problem trying anything new (whether it’s good for him or not) and approaching any other dog without reservations.
Murphy will need an experienced Aussie owner to keep him safe, and give him the strong leadership he needs to blossom into a wonderful pup he will become..
This boy loves to run and play ball, so a fenced yard would definitely be best for him.
Although Murphy has not been around children, based on his personality, it’s expected that he would LOVE to have a young human or two (+8yo) of his own. Because of his tendency to nip and chew on fingers, younger children would not be a good fit.
Murphy is a vocal boy when he plays; apartment life would not be a good fit for him.
