Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: Fergie
Nickname: Ferg-a-lish. Fergilicious.
Breed: Westie Mix
Age: ~6 months
Current Weight: ~14 pounds
Before OMD: Her owner surrendered her to the local shelter and did not give a reason. Oh well, their loss is our (and your!) gain...
Energy Level: Medium. She has puppy spurts of heightened energy, but they are rather short lived.
Descriptors: Sweet. Inquisitive. Curious. Fun. A balance of outgoing and skittish.
Moonlights as: Tree monkey...she can often be found lounging on the back of the couch, much like a monkey on a tree branch.
Daylights as: Kelly Clarkson’s talk show replacement. She has a lot to say and feels very comfortable using all her words to express herself y’all.
Lap Dog Level: Low. She likes to be picked up on her terms, but bores easily and wants down quickly. She loves to be near you but almost always prefers above you (like the back of couch) ...think cat-dog.
What we love most: When she gets excited and wags her tail, which touches her back side, and then turns to chase said tail and barks at it for the tickle. When she zooms through the yard, simultaneously showing off the toy in her mouth. When she lays on top of the glass table, watching the world from her stoop, even though there are four cushy chairs for her choosing. How sweet and adventurous she is, and how completely fearless she is in her yard.
What she loves most: Her mini tennis squeaker balls that she plays fetch with. Running around with her toys, being chased. Playing with her foster dog siblings and darting under the recliner to hide from them, leaving her face and nose peeking out just enough for them to find her. Nylabones. Antlers. Shoes...be warned, you better hide them all.
What she knows: Not a dang thing but her name.
Working on: Housebreaking. Mouthing when excited. Confidence with new people and environments.
Kids: Yes, but needs to be dog-savvy and sturdy.
Dogs: Absolutely! A home with another playful, smaller dog would be ideal.
Cats: While she has not officially met a cat, we do not imagine a problem with a dog-savvy cat.
Housebreaking: Work in progress.
Crate-trained: Yes, and she will gladly go in for a treat.
Fergie is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She's available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org.
