My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED.

Hazel is a 4 yr old (dob 4/27/18) smooth red dapple dachshund with one blue eye. She was recently released from a commercial breeding facility and is learning that life in a home is pretty awesome! She is a happy girl that likes to snuggle on the couch, go for walks and chase her dachshund foster brother. She absolutely LOVES dinner time and will get the zoomies when it's time to eat. She also gets so excited when her people come home that she does the cutest happy dances to celebrate.

Hazel can still be a little skittish due to her time in the commercial breeding industry, so no small kids. Hazel also gets nervous when people stand up and approach her, but if you sit down, she will come to you for cuddles. She would love to sit with someone that works from home all day. She's very quiet and is content to chew on a cow hoof or other chew for hours.

Hazel is doing well with potty training and crate training. She kennels well while her people are gone and sleeps all night quietly in her kennel. She gets along well with other dogs. She doesn't play with them, but she does run around with them in the yard and cuddle with them on the couch. She will require a resident dog in the house so she can continue to learn how to live in a home. Due to still being skittish, she will require a securely fenced yard for her safety.

Hazel is a happy little girl ready for her forever home. Apply today!

The suggested adoption donation for Hazel is a minimum of $600 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.

Wag N Train adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Approved adopters are required to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. We do not arrange transport, or fly our rescue dogs without a "pet nanny". All of our dogs that come from a commercial breeding facility require a securely fenced yard AND a resident companion dog, unless the dog's bio states otherwise. Please note, invisible or underground fencing is not considered secure or appropriate containment. Adoption applications can be found at www.wagntrainterrierrescue.com/adoption-information
