Please read the bio in its ENTIRETY. If you feel your family is a perfect match, please send an email to gateway4paws@gmail.com for additional information. Only complete & qualified applications will be considered or contacted for adoptions. We are a 100% foster-based rescue. Applications can be found on our website at gateway4paws.org

We do not allow shipping & do not transport. You must live within 350 miles from Maryville, IL & able to drive for a meet and greet.

Fleur is just as pretty and elegant as one of our favorite characters from the popular wizard book series. Her foster mom describes her as sweet & timid. Given time & proper encouragement, she will likely overcome her nervousness & be able to enjoy this fabulous new life she has.

Her foster mom reports that Fleur still prefers the safety & security of her kennel. She often retreats there to observe & decompress when she feels overwhelmed. She appears to be more wary of men, so her foster dad is being gentle yet diligent about establishing trust with her.

We will be requiring a fenced yard, mostly because she is currently scared of the leash and harness. It is hard to focus on doing your outside potty time when you are worried about the leash around your neck. A secure physically fenced yard will be necessary. And we certainly would be happy if you wanted to add that second level of security and have an x-pen set up, as well.

We mentioned potty time, that is still a work in progress. Fleur is going well, but continued encouragement & time will be necessary to bring her full circle. She likes to be praised & responds well to words of affirmation.

We don’t know if she would flourish as an only dog. An applicant would have to be very experienced & have buckets of patience if they wanted to bring Fleur home as an only dog. Fleur has been surrounded by many foster brothers & sisters. As well as cats. We can say that she looks to her fosters to show her the ropes. She fits in well with a pack.

Please let us know if you think your family is just the home she needs!
