HISTORY:
Honey Bee came to us from an underserved area in Louisiana. She ended up at the rescue organization as a 6 month old puppy and spent the next year waiting for rescue or adoption.

ABOUT:
Honey Bee is as sweet as her name. She loves people and bonds quickly with them. Honey Bee will follow you everywhere you go and likes to be by you whenever she can. You’ll probably find yourself tripping over her a time or too as she’s always right there with you. She loves to sit on the couch next to you and will paw you to encourage and thank you for petting. She is very generous with her kisses to make sure you know how much she loves you. Honey Bee can be a tiny bit shy when meeting new people or going to new situations, but is very friendly with everyone. She adapted to the differences of city life very quickly. Oh, and by the way, she has the cutest longer nubb tail.

Honey Bee is very well behaved in the house. She barks only on occasion and never for very long. She is currently crated in her foster home, but she has been left with free roam for a few hours and had no issues. Her foster home in Louisiana did warn us that she will occasionally counter surf if given an easy opportunity. She has never had an accident in the house.

Honey Bee has a lower energy level for a dog her age, but will go on walks if you insist. Her most energetic moments are when something exciting is happening, like you just returned home or meal times. She does jump up on people a bit during these exciting times.

Honey Bee is being fostered with 2 small (10lb) dogs and she does great with them. She loves to play with the friendly little and is very gentle with him. The other small dog was not as welcoming to her and she was completely non-confrontational and didn’t react to any of his bad behaviors, not even to defend herself. She mostly leaves him alone as he is not interested in any play. She is not very assertive with other dogs, so she could be bullied. Honey Bee would do great in a home with another friendly, confident dog of any size. (She was around larger dogs in Louisiana.)

Honey Bee was introduced to a cat in Louisiana and she showed no reaction, so it is very possible that she will do well with cats as long as they are used to being around dogs. She has not been around children, but we think she would do fine. A home with very active, energetic children might be a bit overwhelming for her at first, but if given time and patience she would likely adapt.

Honey Bee has a recessed vulva that will put her at an increased risk of having urinary tract infections. She is overweight and losing that extra weight may be critical to her urinary health. Losing weight may mostly eliminate the issue, but if it does not she may possibly need a vulvar surgery in the future to help reduce the risk of infections. This is nothing we can predict as only time will tell. Honey Bee is currently being treated for a UTI and may not be able to go to an adopter until we have a clear urine sample.
