My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Daisy, a gorgeous adult (4 y/o) female purebred Dalmatian!

Daisy was lovingly surrendered as her owners thought she was in need of a much calmer environment than they could provide for her. Daisy will require a special family who lives a quiet lifestyle and is willing to be patient with her as she decompresses. She is not aggressive in any way, but she does have a nervous/timid personality, which may very well change over time. We strongly believe Daisy will follow the 3/3/3 rule and will flourish with confidence in her new home with the right family!

Daisy is a beautiful, medium sized sweetheart who just wants to be next to you at all times! She is the true definition of a velcro dog; you will never have to worry about going to the bathroom alone again. She is dog friendly and cat friendly, but we would recommend no children in the household due to how loud and quick they are. Daisy will be available for adoption after her teeth cleaning, which is scheduled for Tuesday, August 2nd.

Although Daisy is a purebred Dalmatian, her energy level and personality do not follow the typical Dalmatian traits! Usually Dalmatians are extremely high in energy and destructive if not mentally and physically stimulated daily. However, this is not the case for Daisy. So while she will need to be walked daily, she is quite content just snuggling with her person around the house.

The Dalmatian breed will shed twice a year, January through June and July through December (did you catch that?). Dalmatians are big time shedders! We're talking those small hairs that weave in between fabric and never come out. If you prefer a fur free home, this breed is not for you.

Dalmatians are also known for being HUA (High Uric Acid) unless specifically bred with LUA (Low Uric Acid) genes. This means that they cannot process purines and will need specialized diets. There is plenty of information online for low purine food options as this condition is similar to a human who has gout disease. Low purine options include turkey, chicken and salmon based foods. Pork, venison and other gamey meat options are off the menu.

Although we do not know if Daisy is HUA or LUA (you can find out through an Embark Genetic Health Test), we like to err on the side of caution and be preventative so we treat her as a HUA Dalmatian for now.
**Daisy does not have a history of forming stones**

The Maddux Movement is a non-profit foster based rescue located in Atlanta, GA. Our mission is to rescue and rehome animals that are in abusive, neglectful or endangering situations, which includes traditional or open admission shelters, strays, owner surrenders and puppy mills. Adoptions are not based on a first come first serve basis. The individual(s) selected will be chosen by what is best for each animal. Although our rescue is breed focused, we are not a breed restrictive rescue.

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (including leptospirosis and canine influenza).

Additionally, each adopted dog will be sent home with a new Fi Series 2 GPS Tracker Smart Dog Collar (without subscription), a copy of The Forever Dog by Rodney Habib and Dr. Karen Becker and a Dalmatian dog blanket.
