My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Chewy!
This precious 9-year-old Shih Tzu has a special look. He was likely born with a cleft lip (not cleft palate) which can be devastating as a puppy. If though, they survive the inability to nurse and make it to eating regular food, they usually are as normal as any other dog. He must have made it because he is now a wonderful senior dog, completely potty trained, loves to cuddle, and crate trained as well. We believe he was loved at one time but for some reason he was surrendered to a local shelter. When he was surrendered, he was severely matted and in serious need of dental care. It is all behind him now and he's adjusted well to his foster home. He is fine with other pets but most especially loves his people. He will need an owner that can provide regular professional grooming, regular dental care (of his last few teeth,) and just general great vet care! He has funny front legs probably due to bad breeding, but he gets around fine, has no pain in them, and only makes him look even more special. He deserves a great home and whoever adopts him will have gained a great family member.

All dogs are spayed/neutered, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, tested negative for heartworms, microchipped, dewormed, and current on flea/heartworm prevention. The adoption fee for seniors is $75.00. If you are interested in meeting and adopting him, please complete an application on our website at www.allpawsrescueok.org.
