My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JOURNEY IS LOOKING FOR A FOSTER or FOSTER-TO-ADOPT FAMILY -

Good With Kids: 8 and older ideal
Good With Other Dogs: Males, same size best
Good With Cats: No
Housetrained: Yes
Crate Trained: Yes
Walks Nicely On A Leash: Workin' on it
Knows Basic Commands: Workin' on it
Energy Level (Couch Potato, Moderate or High): Moderate to Go, Go, Go
Special Needs: *See below
Special Needs: ** Health
Physical Fence: *** Preferred
Favorite Toy / Activity: Hanging out with humans.

Arrival story: Journey was discovered running scared in a rural area where, exhausted, she finally allowed humans near her to help.

Approximate age / Weight: 4 yrs old and 50 lbs.

Personality: Journey is the sweetest of the sweetest girls with the best doggone smile there ever was! She'll love you with her whole heart and then some. Journey has a zest for life, for toys, for fresh air and for stretching out her lanky legs for romps in the yard.

* Currently, Journey is bunking at a shelter. This is intended to be a short stay, as a home is where she needs to be to thrive and feel safe. We want to get her into a foster or a foster-to-adopt home where she can relax and be the companion she was meant to be. Journey struggles with being apart from the thing she most treasures - humans. When in a home and a human departs, she may pace, whine or bark (never has been destructive). Could you be the special someone that has ability, time and patience to aid Journey on her quest to gain confidence and learn to tolerate being alone
without becoming anxious? Waggin' Tails will provide training and behavioral support and be available whenever you need us.

Journey is smart! She's got an active mind and body and would prefer to put it to good use. Want a fun dog who is eager to interact with you? Journey
is it! Miss J is treat and toy motivated which is so helpful in training. This girl's got great house manners, too! Doesn't hop on the furniture, choosing to sit loyally at your feet, and sleeps in a dog bed next to you at
night. Journey is an excellent patient at the vet's office. On car rides, she does best seat-belted in. Otherwise, she'll be riding shotgun or trying to drive for you. Not much phases her on walks (like skateboarders, bikers,
strollers, etc) except squirrels. She'd really just prefer to spend time sniffing all the scents.

** Journey came to us covered in ticks and tested positive for Lyme disease. She is being treated with antibiotics and expected to be fine.

*** Journey does have a prey drive so no small dogs, cats or other critters in the home is ideal. Since she was captured running in a remote area, seen for over a week by Good Samaritans trying to earn her trust, a physical
fence is ideal to allow her to run and romp safely.

Foster or Forever Home: We're on the lookout for a person/family that is home more often, than not, and willing to help Journey feel safe, secure and confident to take on all the adventures life throws her way from this point forward. Waggin' Tails pays for all fostering supplies like veterinary care, meds, food, treats, crate, toys, etc. to help you be successful. Additionally, Waggin' Tails will provide training and behavioral support and be available whenever you need us.

Contact: Please contact Janet and/or Cathy at wtdr@waggintailsdogrescue.org with any questions regarding fostering or adopting Miss Journey.
