My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello friends! My name is Artemis, and I'm a gorgeous 18-month-old Shepherd mix who currently weighs 39.6 pounds. When you meet me, you'll realize you're in the presence of royalty...I'm named after the Greek goddess Artemis.

I'm an active and energetic girl who will benefit from an owner who will keep me well exercised.  My foster mom reports that now that I've adjusted to her home, I'm better at settling down and also much better at reading my canine foster brother's queues when he's done playing. My favorite activities are running around the yard and playing with toys!

I'm a quick learner and my foster parents taught me that I shouldn't use my mouth for play - but I am still working on containing my excitement for new people and need a little more positive reinforcement on "no jumping."  I figured out the routine and lay of the land in my foster home, so now I make sure I paw at the back door when I need to go potty.  I also do really well in my crate - though I'd love if you'd reward me with a treat and nice chew toy.  My foster parents quickly discovered that I'm a good girl and they let me sleep on a dog bed in their room.  I like being near my canine foster brother and parents - it makes me feel like part of their pack!

I'm very friendly and have done great with friends and family coming to my foster parents' house. I'm a very sweet girl who loves getting attention! I'll follow you around the house and ask you for a good belly scratch!

Due to the fact I'm still learning to not jump on people, I'd do best in a home with children over 5 years...I wouldn't want to accidentally knock a small child over.

Do you have room in your heart and home for me?  I'd love to be a part of your pack!  My minimum adoption fee is $275 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.

I have been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
