Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This middle aged handsome fella joined us over a week ago from the Kingdom of Bahrain. His past is quite the sad one but we know his future is bright, here, in Canada.
Dalton was obviously loved and trained at some point as a pup, but was sadly dumped a few years ago, in an industrial area. He is naturally very submissive and gentle, so was often picked on by the local kids and the established canine pack wouldn’t allow him near their protected food source. Dalton befriended a local security guard who often shared his lunch. One day our rescue partner received a call about Dalton, who was severely injured, his tail was chopped off and he was lethargic and hadn’t eaten in days. After a month in the clinic, Dalton joined a family who fostered him for many months, but their naval commitments took them out of the country, and Dalton was then sent to a boarding facility, where he has been the last year, waiting for a rescue to step up.
We want to change his future.
From now on he will be shown kindness and love, a comfy bed and we are now looking for his new home. He does however, guard his food, understandable, as it was once so scarce. Dalton is now slightly overweight and would love to be on a structured routine, to help him become fit and therefore more agile.
Dalton has started to enjoy his foster home and has bonded quickly to his foster mom, whom he adores. He walks well on a leash and is easily food motivated to comply with anything he doesn’t want to do, such as getting in a car. He is fine left alone for many hours and is a quiet dog indoors, sleeps through the night without a crate, just loves a comfy bed or sofa.
What are his needs?
~no young kids or small dogs
~ okay with cats
~good with dogs of similar age and size, but no puppies
~would do well in an apartment or condo setting but thrives outdoors so a balcony or yard would be ideal
~structure and routine
Dalton deserves to find his new home, so please share and together we can achieve this.
