Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rook - Blue Heeler Mix - Male - 3 Yrs - www.twyla.org

Meet Rook: This gentle and supersweet male blue Heeler/something mix dog is about 3 yrs old and came to us via Street Rescue by a good Samaritan who noticed how skinny, but sweet he was. We quickly noticed that Rooks is indeed one of the sweetest, gentlest dogs we have come across, right around the same time we noticed he was walking with a bit of a swagger, so off to the Vet he went for X-rays. Turns out he had likely been hit by a car weeks before rescue and was sporting a torn ACL on one side and a broken femur on the other side - injuries which cause significant pain and discomfort, yet he was still incredibly sweet! Rook has since had surgery on both legs with substantial healing time in between surgeries and we have learned that: Rook LOVES to snuggle with his people on the sofa/on the ground. He does not love being crated but is fully house trained and not destructive, so he has free roaming privileges. Rook will follow his person everywhere he can, and will whine with the best of them if he sees attention and affection doled out to another dog/cat and will hurry and get his piece of that. He loves to go for walks, he walks well on leash and loves to meet other dogs and people on walks. While he gets lots of attention and affection in his foster home, apparently there is room for improvement, he would love to be a Lapdog and get all of the attention, although he does well sharing the house with other dogs and cats and accepts that he has to take turns getting attention and affection.
Rook is looking for a moderately active home that will take him on walks and lets him be part of the family and everyday life. He can be an only dog or live with another dog or a dog-savvy cat (he will chase if the cat runs, he thinks its a game, a dog-inexperienced cat might not think that that's funny), he is good with kids of all ages, but likes to snuggle and nibble when you stopp petting him and he thinks you should continue, so toddlers and up would likely be best.
***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet, as not all dogs come to all Meet and Greets***
