My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Polkas!

*Nala and Polkas are a bonded pair and will be adopted together.*

Hey there, I'm Polkas. I'm a pretty timid, old gal at 11 years old. I'm just tiny, weighing 11 pounds, and get along with other dogs and even cats. Since I'm pretty shy, I'll need time to warm up to my new humans, but I don't think living with children would help me come out of my shell. I feel most comfortable and safe inside of a home, so I use potty pads to do my business inside. This isn't a bad thing ya know. When it's raining you won't ever have to struggle to get me outside to do my business, because I already know what the potty pads are for! I feel most comfortable sleeping in my crate at night, as that is my safe space.

Foster mom says I have the best facial expressions and that I'm so beautiful with my big eyes, and such a gentle little gal. The world is a pretty scary place for me since being surrendered, and not in the home I've known, but my mom, Nala, makes me feel better. We are bonded to each other, but would do well with other dogs too! Some of my hobbies not only include snuggling Nala, but also collecting and hoarding all of the toys, sun bathing, and watching the world go by from a safe space in the house. I would be a perfect dog for an apartment building, because I don't ever make a peep! Now I just need to find a new human that will let me do all of those things at my pace. Someone who will let me come to them slowly, and not be so pushy about being friends right away. I promise if you let me warm up to you as I'm comfortable we'll be best friends eventually! What do ya say? Do you have the patience, love and understanding I am so desperately looking for and needing? Do you have room for two dogs? Nala and I would love to come live with you!

Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.
