My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pickles!

Oh! Hello, my name is Pickles. I'm about 13 years old, weigh just 9 pounds, and I'm a pretty mellow little guy. I had a home of my very own, but my human had some health issues, so now I'm looking for my forever home, which is kind of scary for me at first. I do well with other dogs, cats and even kids, but please make sure the kids are old enough to understand I'm not fond of fast movements. I'm potty trained, but if you don't take me out for long periods of time chances are higher that I'll have an accident. In my foster home I love my crate and find it as a safe space, so foster mom leaves the door open for me to go in as I please.

I'm typically pretty quiet, but if you leave me home alone I might cry and whine for a couple minutes. Once I know my people, and they have given me proper time to settle into their home, I will sit on their lap or next to them on the couch. I'm not fond of being grabbed at, and because I was abused in my younger years, I'll crouch and cringe if you are too quick with trying to pick me up. Despite my age I still really enjoy going on walks, and I do really well on a leash! I'm hoping to find a new human with patience and love that they can give me, so I never have to worry about another thing for the rest of my life! Do you have a safe, mellow, quiet space for me to call home?

Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.
