My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hoss is a very sweet giant who just wants to be a part of a family. He is gentle taking treats, and likes to play.

Hoss has been very excitable around other dogs, so we have not allowed him to play with others. We will be working with Hoss to develop good social behavior with other dogs.

He is learning basic obedience, like not jumping up on people.

Hoss was diagnosed with light heartworm. He has started treatment, and his adopter would be expected to continue to take him for his shots at our vet in Sparta NJ. His treatment expenses would, of course, be paid for by the rescue.
During this time, he will have to be kept fairly calm.

Hoss settles well in a room with people. He also likes his crate, and will go in with the door open and sleep. After he leaves his foster's home, he may no longer need a crate at all! He does not chew on anything he is not supposed to, and always tries to "go" when we take him outside.

To adopt Hoss, please indicate your interest. We will send you an application, and schedule a home visit. If everything works out well, then a meet and greet.
