My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

TRISTAN – Pointer Mix / 10 months / 15kg / M–Neutered

Tristan’s young life hasn’t started the way he expected, but he’s not letting the hard times dampen his spirits! Tristan owes his survival to the kindness of a young boy and the shelter that aided and housed him in Mexico. Putting trust in these special people has helped make Tristan the dog he is today - man’s best friend.

Since arriving in Canada, Tristan has been making up for lost time after sitting on the sidelines for months healing from a broken leg. Now that it’s finally his chance to act like the puppy he’s always wanted to be, Tristan isn’t going to let any treat go uneaten, say no to any adventure, and leave no cheek unkissed.
Tristan only knows how to experience life and give love the way he received it from his rescuers, unconditionally. Tristan is active, intelligent, kind-hearted, silly, and playful.

Tristan is being fostered in Toronto and is doing very well with apartment and city living, but after a recent cabin weekend, his heart is set on country life. Swimming might not have been his favourite, but an open field with his people, unlimited sniffs to prove his remarkable sense of smell and a tennis ball to play fetch? Pure bliss! and the life this white-eyelash, light-eyed, and leggy boy is dreaming of.

Sure a nice yard is great, but Tristan also wants to show off his great leash skills and experience as much as he can going on nature walks and errands with his people. When you’re a dog as kind as Tristan, it’s always nice to get out and make new human and canine friends.
Foster mom couldn’t be more proud of Tristan’s improvement in his indoor manners. He’s gone from being over-enthusiastic and not wanting to miss a single moment, to not having to worry when his next meal is coming and appreciating the joy of a good nap. To help Tristan meet his exceptional potential, we are looking for a family dedicated to his exercise needs and his ongoing training.

Though not necessary, Tristan would prefer a home with another active dog to play with. Tristan doesn’t have an aggressive bone in his body but being a puppy with a new lease on life, he sometimes jumps on people with excitement. A family with older children would be recommended. He has not been cat tested in Canada but did pass his cat test in Mexico.

If you want to apply for this little ray of sunshine, check out the adoption process and application at www.dibsrescue.com. His adoption fee is $750. If you are a family with older kids, please check out our resources on kids and dogs before you apply. (https://dibsrescue.com/kids-dogs/ ).
