My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Winston
Nickname: Sir Winston Churchill. Chonks. Sir! Meatball. Porky.
Breed: Bully mix
Weight: ~60 pounds
Sex: Male
Age: ~3 years
Before OMD: Stray who found his way to the city shelter. Shelter staff sent us pictures where he looked like a total goober. There was no turning back…he was obviously an OMD pup.
Energy level: Low to low-medium. He will run after a toy and is game for a walk but would also just love to be the potato that he is all day.
Key descriptors: Loving. Goofy. Awkward. Stubborn. Clingy.
What we love: How fiercely he loves his people (especially the ladies). His dream life would be to be permanently attached to his human. His love language is physical touch and he’s a big hand holder. When he rides shotgun, he demands hand/paw contact at all times.
First impression: He’s going to hang back and observe; a bit shy at first. Once he gets to know ya though, it’s game over all your attention now belongs to him.
His perfect date: A snack followed by some appetizers and then a big main course. A slow stroll through the park would please him as long as the night ends snuggling on the couch. He’s going to demand belly rubs but he’ll let you have control of the remote.
What he loves: His people. Kongs. Rolling around on his back. Destuffing toys. Fetch… well he really likes the throw part… the bring back part is still a work in progress.
His Least Favorite Thing: When the spotlight isn’t Winston-focused. He gives a meaty thumbs down to sharing his human’s attention with another dog.
What he knows: Sit. Bedtime (he will go right into his crate).
What he is working on: Four on the floor. Walking in the same direction as the human holding the leash.
Kids: 12+ He is a bit of a bull in a China shop and isn't the greatest at sharing his toys.
Dogs: He needs to be the only dog in the home.Think jealous boyfriend vibes. He’s an attention whore; see above. He’s been perfectly fine with dogs outside of the home and hasn’t been reactive.
Cats: Nope.
Crate-trained: Yup! He knows "bedtime". That means it’s time to go into his crate which he happily complies with. Bonus points if you give him a Kong!
House-trained: Absolutely!

Winston is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He's available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org.
