Hi, I’m Beau Jangles, although my foster parents call me Beau. I am a mellow, laid back 8 year old Shih Tzu mix and weigh 22 pounds. I love to sit next to you and follow you wherever you go. I am also friendly with other dogs, people and kids. I am used to living as an only dog but would do fine with another mellow dog. My previous owner surrendered me because she could no longer care for me. I have definitely been well cared for and loved. I am housetrained and sleep well either on the owners’ bed or a bed on the floor. I like to go for short walks during the day, but am not one to go for long or fast walks. I prefer to take my time and enjoy the scenery. When I came into my foster home, I was a little on the chubby side and will still need to lose some weight. My foster parents are feeding me a special dog food to achieve a healthy weight, and take me on short walks throughout the day. I also love my playtime around the house. I am not a barker and would be fine going into a house, condo or apartment.
Here is what my foster mom will be looking for in my forever home:
• Someone who is home most of the day and will interact with me. I can be left alone for up to 3-4 hours but am used to someone being with me all the time.
• Another small, mellow dog would be okay, although I am accustomed to being the only dog in the house.
• A home that will keep me on a healthy diet to lose some weight and take me for frequent, short walks during the day.
• A quiet, preferably adults only household. I am not used to a busy house or active family. If there are children in the house, they need to be 10 years or older. I am not a dog who will engage in play with kids, so if you’re looking for a playmate for kids, I am NOT the dog for you.
• Reside within 30 miles of the Twin Cities to allow my foster mom to schedule a home visit and follow-up visit.
• Agree to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion in September.
Beau is neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. He is having a dental on August 4th and will be available for adoption after then. But adoption applications are currently being accepted, so if you are interested in Beau, please submit a completed application now. Beau’s adoption fee is $270.00 plus $20.32 sales tax for a total of $290.32.

Or you can also see him and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon the first Saturday of every month at Chuck and Don’s at 6821 York Avenue South, Edina, near Southdale.
