Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Ellie, a sweet and very friendly adult (3 y/o) female purebred liver Dalmatian!
Ellie is a beautiful, medium sized lovebug who just wants to be next to you at all times! She is timid at first, but warms up very quickly with a few treats! She is still learning her household manners and polishing off her obedience training at this time. We are currently working on our basic commands such as sit, lay down and stay, along with controlling our excitement and not jumping onto people or counter surfing. Ellie is a playful, very loyal velcro dog; you will never have to worry about going to the bathroom alone again. She travels extremely well in the car and would do great with an active family! Ellie has done very well around men, women, cats and children (although she is still learning not to jump). She is also dog friendly after a proper and slow introduction!
Ellie is a purebred Dalmatian - meaning, she has a very high energy level. Dalmatians are known for needing to be exercised and mentally stimulated daily! A bored Dalmatian will be a destructive and unruly Dalmatian. This breed will shed twice a year, January through June and July through December (did you catch that?). Dalmatians are big time shedders! We're talking those small hairs that weave in between fabric and never come out. If you prefer a fur free home, this breed is not for you.
Dalmatians are also known for being HUA (High Uric Acid) unless specifically bred with LUA (Low Uric Acid) genes. This means that they cannot process purines and will need specialized diets. There is plenty of information online for low purine food options as this condition is similar to a human who has gout disease. Low purine options include turkey, chicken and salmon based foods. Pork, venison and other red meat options are off the menu.
Although we do not know if Ellie is HUA or LUA (you can find out through an Embark Genetic Health Test), we like to err on the side of caution and be preventative so we treat her as a HUA Dalmatian for now.
**Ellie does not have a history of forming stones**

The Maddux Movement is a non-profit foster based rescue located in Atlanta, GA. Our mission is to rescue and rehome animals that are in abusive, neglectful or endangering situations, which includes traditional or open admission shelters, strays, owner surrenders and puppy mills. Adoptions are not based on a first come first serve basis. The individual(s) selected will be chosen by what is best for each animal. Although our rescue is breed focused, we are not a breed restrictive rescue.
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (including leptospirosis and canine influenza).
Additionally, each adopted dog will be sent home with a new Fi Series 2 GPS Tracker Smart Dog Collar (without subscription), a copy of The Forever Dog by Rodney Habib and Dr. Karen Becker and a Dalmatian dog blanket.
