Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, my name is Charlie. I am 1 and 1/2 years old, and I have the energy of
a pup! My foster Mom says I am a "special needs" dog. That is because I
had Parvo when I was only 8 weeks old and suffered from a very high fever.
Although I did recover from this awful disease, this fever resulted in some
brain damage, so I now have some neurological problems. On top of that, I
have had to have surgery on my leg (I can run and play like a champ now) and
I have to have medicine put in my eyes (I HATE that!) every night before I
go to bed to prevent me from getting glaucoma. I do have some vision
limitations, but my foster Mommy just says my name so I know she is near and
I don't get startled.
You would think that after all I have been through in my short little life,
I might be a basket case. That is just not so! I really love to play! I
play with my foster brother and sister every chance I get. I am very
excited because I recently learned how to climb stairs, and I think that is
great fun! Getting down is a little awkward, but I can do it! I also am an
excellent eater. My Mommy hand feeds me to teach me patience and that she
is in charge of my food. I take my food very gently and I always sit before
I take a handful of food. This is something my trainer, Crystal, taught my
Mom to do with me. I don't mind being hand-fed. It's good bonding time
between my foster Mom and me. Another thing my trainer likes my Mommy to do
with me is the "settle" exercise. My foster Mommy holds me in her arms for
a 1/2 hour ever night and we watch TV together. I usually fall asleep and
snore which makes my Mommy laugh. My trainer monitors my progress very
closely along with my foster Mom.
I have a hard time getting up in the morning after being in my crate all
night. I am going to go back to the neurologist very soon to get that
checked out. I always want to get up but it's hard for me to get my body
going. Mommy pets me until I can get up, and I can usually get up within a
couple of minutes.
I have a doggy door at my foster home, but I haven't learned how to use it
yet. It is hard for me to see it because I have poor eyesight. I just go
in and out the regular door instead and my foster Mom monitors me to make
sure I do not have to go potty. I will be best suited in an adult only
home, as young children sometimes startle me. I used to live in a home with
children, and I snapped at them a couple of times, so it really will be best
for me to hang out with adults. I would love to have another canine
companion though! Playing with other dogs is great fun and it is very good
for me to socialize in that way. Playtime is the best part of the day, in
my opinion. I am a very happy boy and such a clown. I make my foster Mommy
laugh all the time and I promise to make you laugh too! I may require a
little extra patience and time, but I am well worth it--just ask everyone
who knows me! For more information, please contact my foster Mom. Her name
is Erin and you can reach her at erin@azbassetrescue.com.
