My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Izzie is as sweet as she is cute. This female Yorkshire terrier/Yorkie mix is estimated to be around 12 years old and weighs 9 lbs. She has a such a pretty coat. Izzie gets along great with the fur siblings in her foster home, including a cat. She loves being held and pet, and enjoys sleeping and snuggling at night with her person, sleeping throughout the night until the morning. But her most favorite time of day is breakfast and dinner time, and when treats are being doled out, when she is very vocal in anticipation. Her day isn’t a complicated one, mostly napping, enjoying the outdoors sniffing new smells, following her foster mom around the house, and anticipating meals and treats. She's done fine on leash and harness, but is not one to go on long walks. We want her forever home to have a fenced yard where she can saunter about as she pleases under her person's watchful eye. We are also requiring her adopter's home to be without stairs indoors or deep/multiple steps to get outside. She is house trained and does great during bath time and when riding in the car. Izzie is a very easy-going gal who loves to be held. Izzie has undergone a dental cleaning and removal of some of her teeth. For that reason, she eats only softened food. Her tongue also sometimes cutely hangs out the side of her mouth. She was found to have low thyroid and takes inexpensive medication for that twice daily with her food, which she will need to remain on forever. She has some arthritis and takes an anti-inflammatory every other day. This does not seem to bother or affect her at all and she gets around just fine . She seems to have no issues seeing but her hearing is impaired. Due to her senior status, we are only adopting Izzie to a quiet, adult-only home, and if any dogs in the home, one with similarly calm fur siblings. If you live in the central Florida (Orlando) area and think you have the perfect forever home for Izzie, we’d love to find out more about you. Please fill in our adoption application and we’ll see if you’re Izzie's perfect match.
