Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment for the pet. When you get a dog or a cat, you have to be prepared to be its caregiver for the duration of its life which can be from 10-20 years, depending on the pet's age. Once you've taken an animal into your home and made him or her part of your family, you have an obligation to protect and nurture it for its lifetime. And this means providing proper food, shelter, exercise, medical treatment and plenty of love!
Local adoptions only--within 50 miles of Quail Valley/Menifee in southwest Riverside County because we deliver adopted animals to their new homes to see where they will be living, plus we have found that local adoptions work out best.
Handsome Sammy is an adolescent Border Collie/German Shepherd Mix whose birthdate is 12/7/21. He weighs approximately 65 pounds. Look at those big ears! His black and white coat is smooth and the white is speckled. His traits are true to his mix of breeds. He is an intelligent working breed dog who is very energetic and active. He enjoys long walks in quiet areas, lots of exploration with his nose to the ground sniffing. He has been through dog obedience training and socialization with other dogs and is doing great! He gets along great with other dogs and has no aggression at all. He might be too energetic for senior and small dogs. He does not get along with cats. He knows to sit for food and treats and likes to play fetch. Sammy is crate trained and house trained. Sammy is friendly, likable and loves people. He's a sweetheart! He is looking for a home where he will be part of the family and be allowed indoors. Sammy would do best in a home where he gets plenty of personal attention and is included in most activities. His new dog parents should have experience with this type of dog and have ample time for him, walk and play with him. If you have an active lifestyle and want a running, hiking, biking, etc. buddy, Sammy could be perfect! Sammy needs a yard with plenty of space to romp, run and play. He is healthy and has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped.
$100 adoption fee, cash only, which is to help reimburse for a portion of expenses of dog rescue and rehabilitation. Adoption contract required. We are looking for adopters who are willing and able to care for this dog for its lifetime (12-15 years). Location: Quail Valley/Menifee, Southwest Riverside County. Local adoptions only; within 50 mile radius because we deliver animal to its new home to do a home/yard check. Please note: L.A. and Orange Counties are out of area because of traffic and difficult, time-consuming drive.)
.
We prescreen potential adopters before setting up a meeting. If interested in this dog, please tell us a little about you, your family, your lifestyle, your other pets, your experience as a dog owner (which breed, etc.), where you live (which city in a home or apt) and what you are looking for in a dog. Thank you.
Our adoption process involves submitting a completed application and then meeting the animal by appointment. We have the best interest of the animal in mind and our goal is to find a good, permanent home for each of our rescued animals. We have the right to decline an application if we feel it is not a good match/fit or suitable home. If you like the animal and we both feel it is a good match, an application and adoption contract is completed. A convenient day/time is arranged for us to deliver the animal to its new home to do a home/yard check (to make sure the home and yard is safe and secure). We will collect the adoption fee (cash only) when we deliver the animal to its new home. All our adoptions are on a trial basis because our goal is to have a successful adoption where the animal has a good permanent home and never ends up in a bad situation again. We ask that you give the animal a chance to adjust and settle in his new home and environment. Going to a new home with new people and a new environment is traumatic and stressful. It will take time for the animal to become comfortable around you and his/her new home. This should be a bonding period where you get to know the animal and connect with it, spend time with it and take things slow. He/she will need to get to know and trust you and learn the rules of the house and what is expected of him/her. This takes time, sometimes 2-3 weeks. During this time we will hold the adoption fee and if the adoption is not working out, we ask that you contact us and return the animal and we will refund your adoption fee.
