Well hello there - my name is Kodiak!
I am an approx 2 year old male Dogo and I was rescued from the shelter a few months ago. These nice people at DC Dogos say that it doesn't make sense that my original peoples never came forward to claim me after I was found roaming on the side of the Florida turnpike - as I am perfect! Apparently, there's a book called "dictionary" and next to the word "PERFECT" is my handsome face, who knew!
What else can I say about myself, did you hear I am perfect? I like all of the humans, big, small, loud, quiet. I like ALL of the dogs - from rambunctious puppies, to that calm, collect & classy older female. My ideal pack would be playful and match my happy and friendly energy! I like to think that everyone I meet is a stranger ready to be my new best friend, and get this.. I know commands too! Is your mind blown yet? Told ya, I AM PERFECT!
I am ready to be that perfect person's "ride or die" Dogo, I am ready for adventures and I have been practicing my shotgun pose. I am healthy, happy and handsome, a triple H you might say! My new BFF may not even need breed experience, but a general idea of the breed after a decent amount of research is always best with us Dogos!
I am currently giving kisses, getting back scratches & doing the Dogo lean in Tampa, Florida, but I am up for a road trip to my new perfect home, as long as I can ride shotgun!
Dogos are a wonderful breed but we urge anyone interested to dig in and do a lot of research before
deciding if they are a good fit for your home. They require a lot of attention and training with them
never ends! Boundaries must be enforced and they often need reminders as they push past boundaires
you set! Dogos are loving, kind and gentle but don't mistake that for weakness because they are equally
powerful and intense as well! Everyone in the home must be on board with having a dogo and play a
major role in their daily routines and training. Yes it is work, but the rewards are ten-fold! Lazy homes
don't work for dogos as they need stimulation, exercise, and lots of attention too during their younger
years. Our goal in rescue is to be as transparent as we can about each and every dog plus make sure new
families really understand the needs of a dogo!
