Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rio is a 4 – 6 year old blue merle Aussie mix and weighs 42lbs. One of his eyes is partially blue. He is heartworm negative, up to date on all vaccinations. He is very sweet, exceptionally gentle and calm. He isn’t scared of storms or loud noises but does get intimidated by raised voices and sharp movements toward him.
Rio a stray before coming to ASF in 2020 and showed signs of abuse and neglect. He has been with his current owner (his foster mom!) for two years and is now very trusting. Occasionally, if startled or someone is shouting, he will duck and run for cover still, but that is rare.
Rio is good with children, all dogs and cats but not rabbits or squirrels! He LOVES cats. The two cats in his home play with him and rub all over him. He will snuggle up in the dog bed with them.
Rio is obedient, well-mannered, walks well on the leash (even if we see a rabbit, a quiet “no” will stop him!), house trained and rides well in the car for any length of trip. However, he does have to be crated when his owner is not home, as he has separation anxiety and will chew whatever he can get.
Rio must have a home with owners who are home most days, so that he does not have to be crated on a daily basis.
His foster currently works at home, which is perfect for him. He sleeps under the desk all day. He will bark, fiercely, if someone comes to the door, but stops immediately on command and is a perfect gentleman when visitors come to the house. He wants nothing more than to be with his person.
Rio must have a fenced yard. He loves to run zoomies around the yard, and is very content to be outside with his family.
