Meet terrific Tobias! This handsome fellow is looking for his forever family, and wants his new people to know these 10 things about him:
1. I am about 3.5 years old and I am a Cane Corso.
2. When I was at the shelter, I was very shut down. The kennel workers said they found me laying with my face in a pile of my own poop, too depressed to eat anything. Although I have made some significant strides since coming to the sanctuary, and I am learning to engage and trust again, I can be shy and startle easily when I encounter new situations and people. An experienced home that is willing to work with me on building confidence, and that will give me plenty of time to warm up to strangers and new experiences, would be the best fit for me.
3. Although I do like to play, I honestly prefer a calm and laid-back environment. An adult-only home would be ideal, but I think I could live in a home with children over 12, as long as they weren’t too loud or rambunctious and had some previous experience/training with big dogs.
4. I’m not really bothered by any of the dogs that I’ve met at the Bullpen and I wouldn’t mind it if my new family had a large, confident female dog.
5. I haven’t had the opportunity to interact with little dogs since I came to rescue, but I think I could make it work if my new home had dogs over 40lbs.
6. I’m unsure about my feelings regarding felines, although if my new people had cats, I could probably learn to cohabitate as long as we had a proper introduction.
7. The words that best describe me are gentle, eager-to-please, and submissive.
8. I am crate trained and perfecting my housebreaking skills. I am easy to walk on a leash as long as I don’t get surprised or frightened (then I try to run away!), and I know basic obedience.
9. I am fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.
10. I am heartworm positive, but I’ve started treatment, and will come with all the medicine needed to complete it at my new home.

Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a "perfect placement" so we know that they will not be failed again.
