My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pancake was found fearfully running through the streets of Phoenix. Though multiple people saw her and had the opportunity to help, many let her go continue to wander until she either hid or was placed in the backyard of a stranger. Immediately Sky Sanctuary stepped in and was able to save Pancake. Based on her initial behavior and behavior in her foster home, it is possible that Pancake has never received love and affection. She has clearly had puppies in her past and thought she has a “frosty face” of aging and motherhood, veterinarians only estimate her to be 5 years old. Pancake is a nervous gal who prefers to watch those around her. If approached slowly, down in her level, she will allow pets and belly rubs. She appears to love this but also be staring in concern the whole time. Pancake has deemed her nighttime travel kennel as her “she shed” and appears to find comfort in her own space. When lying in her circular bed in her kennel, she allows pets and appears more relaxed. Pancake does get VERY excited at good time and when she gets her favorite bones! She runs around like a brand new puppy, excited to eat and get treats! Pancake has been in foster for over two months in a home with 10 other dogs and 2 cats and has never once showed signs of aggression, in fact, she has never even barked! Pancake would do well in a relaxed home with someone to show her the love she never received and be patient with her nerves. It may be best to avoid homes with small children who may want to grab her or try to pet or pick her up. Pancake is great with dogs Of all sizes and people as well!

Please note: We get a high volume of inquiries on our animals. Your best chance of meeting the animal you are interested in is by filling out our adoption application. As we are a foster based rescue the application is required to schedule a meet and greet. Thank you!
