My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sunny!

This 15 year old man came into my care a couple months ago. His original owner had passed away. He ended up with a mentally ill, abusive family member who hated animals. The home was covered in blood, poop & urine. The man wanted Sunny put down. Sunny was agitated & scared. Had received zero vet care in his whole life and had nails so long he could hardly walk. Not to mention he was clearly overweight (likely from minimal physical activity since it was painful to walk with long nails!).

He's been the sweetest, distinguished gentleman with me and looking for a home where he can finish out the remainder of his life. He can be a bit grumpy here and there but nothing to be scared of. Because of this I'd suggest no young kids. He loves other dogs, ignores cats & is such a lover of people. Seriously always tail wags!

While he does sleep a lot, he loves exploring outside so a yard would be ideal. He is fine on walks but is old & doesn't really understand the leash thing. He's too old & slow to run away though so that's a plus!

He's fine in a kennel which is what I'd recommend if his family doesn't have a spare room where he can hang when they're gone. He doesn't mark in his room but when he's roaming the rest of my house he does. However, I have 9 dogs here so lots of smells & competition! I think the marking would dissipate now that he's neutered and once he got used to a home without so many dogs. Regardless, I'd send him home with reusable belly bands.

His adoption fee is $160. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, had a dental (only has about 18 teeth left!), and is fully vetted otherwise including recent bloodwork. He has lost a little weight too -- YAY! He unfortunately has zero tear production so an ointment must be applied twice a day. I have a pretty good system with this & it takes a whole 2 minutes out of my day. If you have 2 people its even easier -- so don't let this deter you :)

Sunny deserves to be someone's whole world -- even if it is just for a little while. Although, I think this dog will live forever! haha! I fall more in love with him every day and I want him to have a home of his very own! He is so appreciative of being rescued I can just feel it! Let us know if you're interested in this happy, handsome, fat young-man!

Please note: We get a high volume of inquiries on our animals. Your best chance of meeting the animal you are interested in is by filling out our adoption application. As we are a foster based rescue the application is required to schedule a meet and greet. Thank you!
